Afghanistan’s Airports

Afghanistan’s Airports

There are more than twenty airports in Afghanistan, the largest ones being Kabul, Kandahar and Mazar-i-Sharif. Private aircraft rented via AVIAV TM (Cofrance SARL) can fly from any airport in the country. However, only the available international airports offer international flights.

Kabul

Bearing the name of the country’s former president Hamid Karzai, Kabul Airport is undoubtedly the largest airport in the country. Opened in 1970, this is a fully-developed and fully-functional international airport. The airport has only one asphalt concrete runway, spanning a total of 3,500 metres.  It is designed to service heavy intercontinental airliners and cargo aircraft.

Kabul Airport is home to the country’s leading airlines – Ariana Afghan Airlines and Kam Air. Its security falls under the Afghan Air Force, and the overall situation at the airport is calm. You can take direct flights from here to destinations like Ankara, Moscow, Dubai, Istanbul, Tehran, Delhi, Dushanbe, Islambad, Jeddah, Frankfurt-on-Main, Almaty, Kuwait, Doha, Herad, Maari-Scherif, Peshawar and Ürümqi. There are also cargo flights to Bahrain, Dubai and Sialkot.

However, the regular and charter flights offered by the airlines are not enough for many destinations. In this case, business aviation saves the day. AVIAV TM (Cofrance SARL) is ready to organise non-stop flights from Kabul Airport to any city in the country and around the world.

Kandahar

The second most important airport in Afghanistan is Kandahar, located 15 kilometres from the city of the same name. Kandahar also has international status, and offers a small number of overseas flights. With a runway 2,500 metres long, the airport is not yet ready to accept large airliners, meaning its flight coverage is limited.

The air-hub was built in the 1950s as a point for refuelling aircraft flying from the Middle East to South Asia. With the advent of jet aircraft, this need disappeared. The airport was seriously damaged during the war in Afghanistan. It took quite a long time for it to be fully restored, and it is now operating normally, offering both civil and military flights.

Mazar-i-Sharif

Another major international airport in Afghanistan is located just nine kilometres from the city of Mazar-i-Sharif. This airport is used for military and civilian purposes, offering a small number of regular domestic and international flights.

It has one asphalt runway, 3,158 metres long, ready to receive fairly-large aeroplanes and any types of helicopters. The airport was built in the 1950s. As in the previous two cases, Soviet engineers actively participated in establishing the airport.

Mazar-i-Sharif Airport currently offers flights to Herat, Kabul, Tehran and Istanbul. Considering that the air gateways are among the largest in the country, this is quite a small volume. Fortunately, by simply contacting AVIAV TM (Cofrance SARL), you can easily order a private jet to fly you to the unavailable destinations. The company’s clients can board flights on their desired routes without transfers under quite comfortable and efficient conditions.

Another major airport in Afghanistan, Ghazni, was completed recently. It shall be opened in the near future. This new air-harbour will offer both domestic and international flights.

Afghanistan’s Domestic Airports

Afghanistan’s largest domestic airports are located in the cities of Herat, Jalalabad and Kunduz. These airports offer flights to local destinations. Small regional air gateways are located in the cities of Bamyan, Farah, Lashkargah, Darwaz, Khost, Fayzabad, Yawan, Taloqan, Maymana, Qala e Naw, Tarin Kowt, Zaranj and Sayghan. There are helipads in many localities.

Via, AVIAV TM (Cofrance SARL), you can order a private aircraft to fly from any domestic airport to any point around the country. In cases where the airline does not offer the requested flight, the best solution for people who appreciate their time and comfort is to order a private business jet. A helicopter is often the only way to travel to the mountains or remote hard-to-reach places. By renting a helicopter, you will quickly achieve your desired goal.

To quickly order a plane or helicopter from a particular airport, simply specify your aircraft type when booking your flight on the website. AVIAV TM (Cofrance SARL) is ready to provide you with a comfortable car that will take you to the airport or helipad, and will take over the entire organisation of the trip.
